Bula!!

If I could go anywhere in the world right now, I would go to the luxurious islands of Fiji. Many say that travelling is all about going to as many places as possible before you run out of time; and for many, that might be the case. On the contrary, I believe if you go to a place that warms the heart and relaxes the mind, it is as good a place as any. Fiji is one of the few places that is capable of this amazing feat.

When I think of paradise, I imagine being down to earth and close to nature. I imagine deserted islands, peace and quiet, and the wind rustling the leaves of the palm trees hanging overhead. The birds singing harmoniously with one another, their lovely voices sailing like boats on the wind. I imagine the crystal clear water and the sparkling, golden sand underfoot. The many islands of Fiji each offer an entirely unique experience from one another and each adventure will bring pure love and joy.

Many of those who go to Fiji, only go to the well-known areas and those that are quite built up. I must say, if it’s your first time in Fiji, you definitely have to do some exploration of Viti Levu, the biggest of the Fiji Islands and home to the capital, Suva. But, the trick is to go to find the destinations which have been impacted the least by man. Fiji as an entirety is an absolutely stunning location, although, as in every place in the world, there are locations that can be seen as more, or less beautiful than other places. Suva has become quite built up in the past years and therefore doesn't offer as much of a cultural experience as some of the outer islands.

Yanuca Island (pronounced ‘Yanutha Island’) is my all-time favourite. It is a magnificent island, so magnificent actually that my parents got married on the island. Yanuca Island is almost entirely untouched by man, which makes it one thousand times better. It’s a very intriguing place too, there’s lots to explore and discover and the wildlife there is absolutely amazing! If you happen to visit, snorkeling and/or scuba diving is a must. The visibility in the water is incredible and there are so many interesting things to look at. Especially since Fiji is tropical, everything underwater is so colourful. The only limit is your imagination!

Honeymoon Island is by far the cutest location I have ever seen and it just so happens to hold the record of smallest island ever recorded. The tiny island, shaped like a heart, has just enough room for two people to sit side-by-side on it (hence the name Honeymoon Island). Every time I go to Fiji, I visit Honeymoon Island because of what a beautiful place it really is.
One of my very favourite and fondest memory of Fiji, is playing with the hermit crabs or ‘cussy cussy’ as they’re referred to as by the natives. As children, my brother and I would play in the warm sand and build sand castles for our little islander friends. These little adorable crabs brought so much joy to us that we even tried to steal a few from the island (hehe J). Looking back at my adventures now, I've realised just how very lucky I am to have been to Fiji, even as a youngster. I've been there many times since then, but my first memories are by far the best.

I would absolutely go there a thousand times over, and considering that it’s just so welcoming of all people, why don’t you go there and fall in love with travel all over again?

I'm dreaming of travel and travelling my dreams...

To have a dream is to have direction in life. Dreams can be small and simple or huge and extravagant… or both! Why not? Some of us may have few dreams and others may have many, but all that matters is that you feel as if you’re succeeding in life. One of my many dreams, is to travel the world. I want to explore and adventure, to feel alive with wonder at what many unknowns the world has to offer.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go? It’s a bit of a hard choice isn't it? You could kiss your love under the Eiffel Tower in Paris, go scuba diving in Jellyfish Lake in Guam, take photos attempting to hold up the Leaning Tower of Pisa, trek through the Amazon Rainforest in South America and sooooo many more! The possibilities really are endless, you could go to a different place every day of your life and never end up in the same place twice. I think that’s truly amazing.

Since there’s an endless list of places to see and discover in the world, I’ll start off by giving you my opinion on the places I've been. Then I’ll start researching and asking for advice on the most interesting places all over the world. During my life so far, I've been to Indonesia, United States of America, Fiji, Japan and of course my home country Australia. As you can tell, I have a LOT of travelling to do. On that note, I’ll start by giving you my (possibly biased) opinion of Australia since it is my home country and all.

I have been to every state in Australia and honestly, I think it is absolutely beautiful wherever you go. Australia has this magnificent way of catering for everyone’s climatic preferences. The Northern-most  parts of Australia (for example, Queensland, Northern Territory and North-Western Australia) are generally hot and humid whereas if you travel down the East coast, the climate becomes cooler and less humid until you reach Tasmania where the climate is cold and crisp (it sometimes even snows on Mt. Wellington). Southern Australia is on average quite cool and hardly humid, but it changes greatly between seasons. The West coast climate is very different to that of the East coast: it’s generally more climatically pleasant than the East coast as the temperature doesn't vary as greatly. At the centre of Australia, it’s simply hot and dry, even during the wet season Central Australia is more humid than normal. So, there really is a great variation in the climate of Australia which means that it is suitable for the vast majority of travelers.

Australia has been voted as the best country in the world to live and in particular, Canberra has been voted as the best city in the world to live. This decision was made by The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and featured in the Canberra Times at this web address: http://www.canberratimes.com.au/act-news/canberra-named-the-best-place-in-the-worldagain-20141006-10r5sp.html . Canberra is a great place to visit and to live, but there is also a wide variety of tourist places to visit in Australia as well. For a fun and adventurous time, Queensland is home to not only the largest theme park in Australia, it is also home to four other theme parks all located within close proximity to one another. A Wet’n’Wild theme park has recently been built in Sydney, NSW, for a closer alternative to those who live in the Southern most parts of Australia.

Ayers Rock or Uluru (as it is known by the first Australians) is also a fantastic place to visit, even though tourists are no longer allowed to climb the gigantic natural phenomenon. For those that appreciate nature, just the sight of such a place as Ayers Rock is completely amazing. The Daintree Rainforest in Queensland is also a spectacular place to visit. It creates a wonderful natural environment to be in and keeps you grounded and close to nature. This rainforest is by far the most extravagant in Australia and is a once in a lifetime visual journey for tourists. Another place, which I believe to be very underrated by so many, is Tasmania. 'Tassie' really has so much to offer to tourists, including landscapes which can be found nowhere else in Australia. This part of Australia has many unique locations, including Mt. Wellington, Mona: Museum of New and Old Art, Port Arthur Historic Site and many more.

Australia really has so much to offer and I don’t believe I have covered all of its extravagance in this blog. I guess you’ll just have to visit and discover all the secrets and wonders of Australia for yourself. It wouldn't be as interesting if you didn't have a little bit of Australia to discover yourself now would it? So get out there and travel your dreams!
